The process of examination
During the course of the diagnostic procedure of children, as a first step, the psychologist or psychiatrist meets the parents or the family. When needed, a neuropsychologist examines the child as well. If it occurs that an expert opinion of a special needs teacher (SEN teacher) or logopedist is required, we involve the professionals of “Napraforgóház” in the process.
In case of adolescent patients, the procedure differs from children’s therapy.
The clinician professional often works with the adolescent alone, and the communication with the parents happens through sittings where both the parents and the adolescent are present. In these cases, the first interview could happen with the collective attendance of the parents and the adolescent or – if it is requested by the adolescent and approved by the parents – only with the attendance of the patient.
When required, we send an anamnestic paper to the patient before the first meeting, which should be filled out and sent to us via e-mail. If the patient is in possession of any former examination results, please take those to the first meeting as well! After the phase of the differential diagnosis (which usually means 3-5 occasions after the first interview) we determine which therapy we would suggest for the child. The family receives feedback about these recommendations, even in written form if that is what they prefer.

In the case of certain problems, the assessment at Murmo is only carried out with a complex examination (in the case of ASD, ADHD, comorbid symptoms). Before committing to the process, it is important for families to consider the prices. https://murmo.hu/tevekenysegeink/araink/?lang=en
Currently, our foundation cannot provide support for the diagnostic phase. The prices include the writing of a detailed expert opinion, the consultation of colleagues, participation in supervision, the formulation of proposals and, if possible, the organization of care within the system. If our team does not provide the proposed form of care, we cannot undertake the organization of the rest.
Examination sessions last 50 minutes, examinations are usually available in the morning. There may be deviations from the above in any direction - more or fewer tests - if our specialists consider it during the process. We also ask for a pedagogical opinion from the kindergarten or school.
Like all doctors in Hungary, child psychiatrists are also legally obliged to write documentation about their child in the EESZT, which also includes a diagnosis or at least a guideline diagnosis. This requires your child's personal data (date of birth, TAJ number). The documentation is usually a few summary sentences, a description of the condition from a medical point of view and a diagnosis/direction diagnosis. If you do not want this appearance to be visible to other doctors and health professionals (according to these regulations, it is only visible to psychiatrists and child psychiatrists, not to other doctors and schools), the two parents can make a statement restricting access together with the necessary IDs (parental identity card and residential address, child's birth certificate) in the government window of the place of residence.
For those families who have a therapeutic relationship with our establishment we can provide help in the following way: we examine the cognitive abilities of the child in to determine if he or she is mature enough to enter school. Depending on the results, we may suggest a school entrance examination and a development therapy of cognitive abilities if we find that the child is lagging behind in his or her level of development compared to his or her peers.
